The belly of the ocean rises,
Sends a shiver down my spine.
Sheer power;
She can bring the bravest
To their knees.
My heart bows before her,
A silent plea for embrace.
She won’t soften for me.
Each time I approach her
I feel I am changed.
She is without those small spaces of stuckness
That hold me hostage.
She reminds me to exhale
To sing
To cry
That what falls from my eyes
Is what comprises her
That we share this depth
This capacity
For more life
Than can be discovered by others.
